Who Are You?
Do you know your personality?
Today I’m going to be speaking on who are you, not who are you as a black woman or whatever your ethnicity is but who are you as a person.
What is your personality?
We know that you’re a child of the Most High God.
But I’m speaking about your personality:
• The inside of you that helps you deal with difficult situations
• The part of you that helps you make solid decisions
• The part of you that shows empathy and love for your fellow man
I’m going to provide a few personality tests that you can take. They help you determine who you are.
You may be:
• A dominant person
• An influencer
• A talker
• A Pacer
It is important to find out who you are because who you determine how your life will be. Not only how you handle things, but how life is going to revolve around you.
Your Energy
The energy you bring and the energy you put out makes things gravitate to.
If you are a dominant person, you may be authoritative in your relationship with your employees. However, this may be a turn off to some people.
If this is true for you, make some adjustments in your life.
Don’t be like some people that say, “I am who I am, and people just have to deal with it.”
Once you learn that one specific personality trait you are strong in, thrive in it. Even if you lack other personality traits surround yourself with people that are dominant in those areas. You will focus more on the trait.
Here is an interesting fact. Thomas Edison was brought up for trial. Since he had a third-grade education he was accused of being “stupid.” On the witness stand, the lawyer was asking him all kinds of questions, and he was giving some pretty intelligent answers. He wasn’t a stupid person; he didn’t have the book knowledge of things they wanted him to know. We all know how very intelligent he was considering his inventions. So, at one point during the cross-examination,
Thomas Edison said, “what difference does it make if I can answer a question that isn’t relevant to things that I need to know.”
I have a button on my desk, and if I push it a person will come in that can answer any question that I have that I don’t have that knowledge and expertise.
Honesty
A lot of people don’t know who they are. Be honest with yourself. You don’t have to do it alone. Surround yourself with people that know things that are not your strong points.
Stressful Situations
There are many ways to handle stressful situations if you know that you are a high-strung person.
Here is one thing you can do when a stressful situation comes up.
Create an exit plan to remove yourself, then take a walk around the block before you go back into the room.
Surround yourself with a team of people that can fill in the gaps of the knowledge you need.
