4 SIGNPOSTS YOU SHOULD NEVER MISS ON THE JOURNEY OF SELF- DISCOVERY
Every person on earth has a God-given gift and purpose. Utilizing our gift with our purpose we can set and achieve the goals of our biggest dreams. When we use the gift/s and talent God has blessed us with and marry that with a specific purpose or passion that we have identified as our reason for being created we can attach that to a goal in that area and be amazingly happy.
Realize Your Gift
How do you realize your gift? You are good at your gift. Your gift is like a fingerprint. No one’s gift is the same. For example, if you have the gift of singing no one will be able to sing exactly as you sing, touch the people you were meant to touch or have your unique style. There may be copycats, but no one can match your distinctness.
Once you realize your gift, work on improving and molding it to perfection. I don’t believe the saying “if you don’t use it, you will lose it.” I may get rusty and hard to uncover under the cobwebs of time. But, it is yours forever. If you haven’t discovered or are unsure of your gift look for it in everything you love to do. It will be the thing that lights you up and put warmth in your heart.
Your gift is something that you do well and you enjoy doing. Something that most people do as a hobby and the time passes without a thought. You may even pass up a meal when you are in the zone and never think about food. It’s that special something that you were born to do. There are exercises in my Masterful Purpose Goal and Daily Action Planner Guide. And once you discover your gift, you are a third of the way to living life filling fulfilled and happy.
You May Change Directions
Often times your gift is not what you had planned on doing or being. Your goals and dreams were based on a monetary reward, status, or acclaim. Your gift may be something you plan to do when you retire or when you get enough funds. But, if you give into your gift and life purpose God will make a way for you to be what he needs you to be and reach who He needs you to reach. Do not fear to venture into something different away from your comfort zone. Most times, that is where your significant breakthroughs manifest.
Psalms 18:16
“A gift opens the way and ushers the giver into the presence of the great.”
Don’t Settle
Look for your gift until you find it, and don’t stop looking until you have the victory. Ask your friends and family. A lot of times we don’t know but, they see our gift like a stamp on our forehead. Sometimes we are in denial. “It couldn’t be that,” we say, or “I love doing that,” or “this is so easy for me to do.” I declare and decree if you look for your gift you will find it. That is why you were born; to utilize your gift in your purpose. Ask God, He will help you discover your gift, just have faith.
The Most Essential Part
Hebrews 11:6 “that without faith it is impossible to please God.”(NIV)
And you must have faith to discover, accept, and work your gift. You must believe that out of the richness and glory of God he will provide for you if your gift is not something that brings enough finances to support you immediately. You will be so good at your gift that others will want it, want to know how you do it, or want your tutelage. Work on perfecting your gift, honing your skills and God will be gloried, and rich will be your reward.
Here are four essential nuggets that I have pointed out for you to help you on this journey.
1. Discover: Right from the beginning, you must realize your gift and discover your purpose, not determine it. Your destiny was pre-determined by God; you must go through the discovery and preparation process.
2. Change: In the discovery of your definite purpose, change is involved, and most times, change is hard. It means God is taking you through some trials and tribulations that are like sandpapers of life that serve to smooth out the rough spots, making you better for the ministry.
3. Seek: This is a journey that involves essential decisions at every corner. It is very vital that before each significant decision, you seek God and not lean on your understanding. Let Jesus be the steering wheel of your car (life), not your spare tire. Involve God from the very beginning, and the journey will be wonderful.
4. Faith: Often times you will face challenges as you take steps of faith into the unknown. You may need to mix up things; take new directions in your business, family, career, etc.
God made you unique and for His reasons. Wake up every day living an abundant life-giving your gifts on purpose. “Your Masterful Purpose”
