Doubting Yourself
Have you doubted yourself?
Today’s topic is something that’s come up multiple times this week.
CS Lewis said, “I found that nothing is more dangerous to one’s faith than to work the work of an apologist.”
Doubt will keep you stuck.
When I joined the military at age 32, I wasn’t in the best of health. During my military training, I cracked my foot. I was a single mother, three kids, and I went into the military with faith that I can finish the training. I was in there with a bunch of eighteen-year-olds. I was older than my technical instructor at that time. My technical instructor was in his early or late 20s. I was one of the oldest persons there at age 32.
I cracked my foot and didn’t think I’d be able to finish training. I had only a certain amount of time that I had set aside to go through basic training because, at home, I had children, a mortgage, a mother that was watching my children.
- I lost hope when I cracked my foot.
- I lost faith.
- I lost everything I needed to get through the next step.
I knew this is where I needed to be to accomplish my goal getting out of there. I laid in bed crying though a pity party. After I cracked my foot, I was removed from basic training and placed in the hold position. My time frame was changed. I knew that if I continued where I was, I would be pushed back in training eight weeks after my foot healed. That would have derailed all my plans. I would have never been able to accomplish what I set out to do.
That doubt kept me stuck.
God had a plan.
His plan was above my plan. Just like His thoughts are not like our thoughts. He planned to get me out of there sooner than the 8 or 12 weeks I had expected.
Where are you with your faith?
Where are you with believing that you can accomplish the things that God said you could do?
Where are you?
Do you have a doubt?
Doubt will prevent you from answering the phone or walking through a door. Uncertainty will prevent you from doing things you know you can do. Now, in your heart, you know you can do it. But that stronghold voice is there telling you otherwise.
It says in “Philippians 4:13, I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me”.
So, make sure that you are standing in faith. Stand assured. In God’s Word, He says you can trust in Him. The one thing that I learned to do when faced with doubt is to take the step. Make the call. When you don’t meet the situation, you doubt about it, and you will be defeated.
Stand in Faith.
