Put Your Blinders On
One of the things I want you to do first is to “Put your Blinders on.”
You might say, what do you mean, put your blinders on. Blinders are things that help you stay focused on your goal, so you don’t get distracted. And negative seeds don’t get planted and watered.
For instance, jockeys put blinders on their horses while racing to keep them from being distracted. The result keeps them focused on their goal; to win the race. Horses have great peripheral vision due to their eyes being on the sides of their heads. And because of that, they can see things on the side of them and behind them. Eventually, it causes them to lose sight of their original goal or focus.
That’s the same thing we need to do not to be distracted. We need to put on “Imaginary Blinders” so we don’t see things that will take us off course. A lot of things will capture our focus, looking shiny and new, and we want to change even before we have our first victory with us, resulting in us deviating from our plan.
If you have a good plan and working it, don’t deviate unless it will compliment the goal that you’re working on.
It can be several things:
• A better fit
• It’s a new technology
• A new system
In the book, “Think and Grow Rich,” Napoleon Hill surveyed a lot of millionaires and found out is that millionaires make decisions quickly and confidently, they also change decisions, if needed to, slowly.
We need to have the mindset of millionaires, making our decisions quickly and not deviating unless it is well thought out.
Veering off your course and not staying focused can be tragic for your business and purpose. We tend to drift away from our path.
Narrow your focus and niche so that people will come to you regarding your skillset.
Nobody else can fulfill your purpose. God put a specific purpose in you, only for you. He gave you a gift that’s only for you and only in you. So, no matter what the competition looks like, even if they are offering the same services. Nobody can do it as you can. God only gave that journey to you.
Competition is a good thing. It makes you strive a little more to become better. So we need to stay focused on what we’re trying to do.
Put your blinders on. Run your race.
A little friendly competition is a good thing. Don’t let any negative seeds get planted while you are trying to achieve your goal.
The Bible says in (Philippians 4:8) “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
When we focus on good things, all the negative seeds can’t get watered. They won’t be a chance for them to take root.
I’m learning every day how to put and keep on my blinders.
So please, Put your blinders on and keep them on.
